Pest Control Officer
The R.M. appoints and hires a Pest Control Officer (PCO) each year to keep rat, mouse and gopher infestations in check. The PCO is responsible for identifying pest infested sites, setting up bait stations, monitoring these sites, and educating the ratepayers on identifying pest infestation, eradication and control measures. The current PCO is Grant Peeling of Moose Jaw. He can be reached at 306-694-8485 or 306-631-7141.
Gopher
Each year, the RM organizes poison orders from ratepayers, purchasing from our Pest Control Officer at GWP Rodent Products. All orders must be pre-ordered and paid for, at cost. Note this bulk order does not change the cost. See below for rebate options.
Order forms (or use the online form) are due by the end of February.
2025 pick up is scheduled for March 27th at 9 am at the RM office. Invoices will be issued at this time.
Gopher Control Program (GCP)
SARM administers a 50:50 cost-share rebate program to rural municipalities and First Nations, south of the Northern Administrative District, and through RMs and FNs, other stakeholders with costs to control ground squirrels populations. Funding for rebates under the GCP is $750,000.
